"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully tailored clothes...and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp...I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really there, and that I really lived."

~Marjorie Hinckley

"Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is a nobler art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of nonessentials." Lin Yutang

EPCOT and Magic Kingdom

NASA Lift off

Gingerbread House

A very special thank you to my mom, who helped us keep our gingerbread house tradition going this year! :) Doesn't it look so inviting? I put a night light bulb up through the bottom in the corner and made a "fireplace" in front of it using cardboard and tissue paper. I love how it casts its light on the tree inside. We put a "fence" around the house, made it "snow" and had a snowman in the front yard near the light post.

And, of course, had Santa heading down the chimney to deliver presents. I had so much fun putting this together with the kids. Thanks, Mom, for making the gingerbread. Love you!

Kylie plays at Disney World

For springbreak this year, we went to see Kylie play with the South Aiken High School band at Disney World. We enjoyed seeing and listening to them play. They did a great job!
And, after their performance, we enjoyed going to EPCOT and Magic Kingdom, too! (We also got to see the NASA shuttle lift off, too! It was a very fun trip!...more to come on all that.)

On Easter Sunday, Brenden and I had some very special news to share with the kids, so we decided to tell them in an unusual way :)

We hid plastic Easter eggs in the back yard. Most were filled with candy, but there was one egg for each child with their name on it. After all the eggs had been found, we had the kids come in the family room and open their egg that had their name on it. In each of their "name" eggs, there was a small piece of paper with a word on it. Their task was to put all the words together to form a sentence. At first they struggled....

And, looked to us for clues....And, then, together they discovered the message....

And they were surprised and excited!!!!! :)

The message was.....

"Will you help us name number 8?"
Yep! We are expecting a new baby! Official due date is November 12th, which means I may have this baby around Halloween....maybe even on Brenden's birthday! We will find out if it is a boy or a girl probably sometime the end of June. Brenden thinks it's a boy.....time will tell :)

Locks of Love

Yep! I did it....said goodbye to my long hair!
Kylie and I donated about 14 inches each to Locks of Love....for girls under 21 who are going through cancer treatments and lose their hair, Locks of Love provides wigs for them to wear through donations like ours. Here's before...

and here's after....

It took some getting used to, but I have to admit...I am loving it :)....and I think Kylie is, too. It's a nice change of pace. I have to wonder, though, if I will ever have long hair like that again...hmmm...time will tell. Here's our hair all packaged up ready to mail....hoping some little girl enjoys having it!

Just a reminder....YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
